Severe Weather

Drought

There are currently no active drought declarations. The Climate and Weather Committee continue to meet regularly to monitor conditions according to the state's Missouri Drought Mitigation and Response Plan. The committee evaluates precipitation and water supply information from around the state and notifies the Director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources should conditions warrant activating the Drought Assessment Committee.

The department encourages the public to submit condition reports for their area, even in wet or normal conditions. These reports help establish a baseline against which to compare future droughts. If you would like to submit drought-related conditions and impacts for your area, please fill out the survey form at Condition Monitoring Observer Reports (CMOR).

Flooding

For alerts currently in effect for Missouri, visit the National Weather Service's Watches, Warnings or Advisories for Missouri webpage. For current travel conditions, visit the Missouri Department of Transportation's Traveler Info Map.

Note: When rivers or streams are at moderate or major flood levels, boating in these conditions has greater risks and dangers than during normal conditions. For the safety of boaters and to prevent impacts to local infrastructure, boating in these conditions is not recommended. When counties, towns and communities are actively conducting flood fighting activities, recreational boating in areas of active flood fights can adversely impact these efforts.
